Low Glycemic Dessert That's Easy To Make!

Avoid Foods That Spike Your Blood Sugar

We all have a different reaction to certain foods so there is no diet that fits all. But the best way to start is by having wholesome ingredients that are unprocessed. We should avoid sugar and foods that will spike our glucose. However, maintaining a diet that avoids sweets and baked goods can be hard. We have all had cravings for a chocolate dessert, especially on the weekends. But why work so hard during the week to eat clean and then have a cheat meal over the weekend that spikes your glucose and ruins your metabolic health.? Thankfully, Levels recently came out with foods that you can have that won’t spike your glucose. Since Zen Basil Seeds are one the foods on the list, we decided to create a dessert out of a few ingredients off that list! You can try this recipe yourself because it’s so easy to make and doesn’t require any baking! This sweet treat will not only get rid of your chocolate cravings but also will Not spike your blood sugar!


Low Glycemic Chocolate Squares

All you need is to grab a mixing bowl and a baking tin. No baking is required, but you will use it to store in the fridge. Add ½ cup of Zen Basil Seeds to a bowl. Next add one cup of sesame seeds and one cup of almond halves. Then add 1 cup of almond butter or peanut butter to that bowl. This will thicken the ingredients together and add to the rich flavor. Then pour ¼ cup of monk fruit, ⅛ cup of coconut oil, and a pinch of salt into the bowl. Mix well until all the ingredients are all incorporated together. Next transfer the mix onto a baking tin lined with parchment paper. Press down on your mix firmly so that it’s spread out evenly.

Now for the chocolate topping. This makes the recipe taste so chocolatey and sweet without using any added sugar! The key is to use dark chocolate (80% or higher) or cocoa powder. Dr. Casey Means describes cocoa powder as a food we can all enjoy when she describes it as, “Pure cocoa has very little sugar, lots of fiber, and a huge amount of antioxidants. The metabolic risks of a chocolate habit come not from cocoa itself but from the copious sugar typically added to it.” Use about 1 cup of cocoa powder and melt it in a pan with 1 cup of monk fruit, 1 tsp of coconut oil, and a pinch of salt. Pour that melted chocolate over the entire base of your mixture that’s in the baking tin. Leave it in the fridge to set for up to 2 hours. When you take it out, take a bite of what will taste like a chocolate almond brownie. Sweet and gooey that packs a crunch! For serving size, I cut about 12 chocolate squares from this batch. This is the perfect dessert that’s not only super easy to make, but also has a low glycemic-index!
